RISE UP Edition #17: 5 Revenue Resolutions for the New Year
RISE UP Edition #17: 5 Revenue Resolutions for the New Year

Welcome to RISE UP, where every other Friday I share one tip for reaching your potential and building a legendary revenue career.

What. A. Year.

Thank you for subscribing to RISE UP and following me on LinkedIn. It’s been a journey of learning and growth.

To close the year strong, I looked back on all 16 editions of my newsletter and compiled a list of 5 resolutions every revenue pro can use to take their revenue to new heights in 2024.

Kick your new year off with these resolutions.

Resolution #1 - I Put Customers First (No Excuses)

A revenue-focused company must be a customer-focused company.

There’s no way around it. Neglect your customers and they’ll walk out the door – especially in a tight market.

In Rise Up #15, we talked about the power of relentless customer focus

As a leader, you need to:

  • Be in the trenches every day
  • Embed a customer-focused culture
  • Know the full customer journey

If nothing else…

Define your company’s values when it comes to the customer. Then, say it loud and say it often. Shout it from the rooftops.

Make sure every team member knows: this company is all about the customer.

Resolution #2 - I Take Full Advantage of AI Capabilities

2023 was the Year of AI.

My bet: 2024 will be the year companies convert AI from a nice-to-have into a strategic advantage. Are you going to ride the wave or get swallowed by it?

In Rise Up #5, we talked about the big, bold impact of AI

In revenue, AI is driving:

  • More informed forecasting and decision making
  • Reduced time to revenue
  • Gains in rep productivity

If nothing else…

Establish your 2024 AI strategy. Invest time into critical knowledge and invest money into the right AI-powered tech.

Equip your team with the tools they need to crush quota.

Resolution #3 - I Win Critical Revenue Moments

Not all moments are created equal.

There are moments in your revenue cycle where a botched play doesn’t end the game. And then, there are the business-moving moments.

In Rise Up #8, we talked about 3 critical revenue moments that will make or break your business

They are moments where you:

  • Use key data to lay out your strategy
  • Bring together teams to coordinate
  • Wow the prospect and close the sale

If nothing else…

Know your moments. Align your teams around them. And take full advantage of processes and tools that help you win these all-important plays.

Do this, and you’ll move the business forward.

Resolution #4 - I Run Tight Revenue Systems

RevOps is the #1 fastest-growing job in the United States.

Yep, you read that right. And the RevOps function is growing for a reason – it’s the key to squeezing the most out of your revenue opportunities.

In Rise Up #16, we talked about the hidden ROI of RevOps

A well-built RevOps team boosts revenue by:

  • Establishing a well-oiled revenue machine
  • Forecasting accurately (down to the penny)
  • Growing your bottom line quarter-over-quarter

If nothing else…

Run the numbers on RevOps investment. Don’t let clunky processes and outdated systems get in the way of your ‘24 success.

Make sure you have the right team in place.

Resolution #5 - I Lead With Resilience and Authenticity

Leadership is tough.

There’s no way around it. But you can make leadership infinitely easier by investing in a resilient mindset and by trusting your team.

In Rise Up #13, we talked about how to lead a billion-dollar company

Leadership at this level requires:

  • Continued investment in resilience training
  • A company culture built around your people
  • Trust at every corner of the organization

If nothing else…

Commit to how you’ll lead in 2024. Map out your personal approach to leadership and steps you’ll take to extend it to every team member you engage with.

Trust your team and they’ll trust you.

That’s a wrap!

Thank you for a great 2023

It’s been my privilege to share these thoughts on leadership, revenue, and business with you.

I’m excited to return fresh in the new year, ready to continue redefining what a legendary revenue career can look like.

Wishing you all the best over the holidays.

Till next year,

Andy Byrne
